The Fragrance of the Dharma

The Hōkun Trust promotes the study and practice of the Buddha’s teachings. Our work has a strong emphasis on the practical application of the teachings in everyday life and aims to make these open to all seekers.

The term Hōkun includes two Japanese characters – for Dharma, the Buddha’s teachings, and Kun for fragrance.

What’s happening at The Hōkun Trust?

The Hōkun Trust is delighted to announce its funding and publication of The Hermit and Other Zen Tales. The book is a collection of Dharma talks (teisho) given by the late Zen teacher H. B. Platov, Chikuen Kugai (1904-1990). With his deep roots in Zen, H. B. Platov discusses many aspects of Zen training and from his rich cultural background he draws on analogies from the traditions of the great world religions

Bursaries & Summer School

The Hōkun Trust is a charity advancing the study and practice of the Buddha’s teachings. The bursaries may contribute to the cost of a course in Buddhist Studies, a related language or a retreat period.

The Hōkun Trust also provides funding to attend The Buddhist Society’s annual Summer School held at High Leigh Conference Centre in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire.
