The Fragrance of the Dharma

The Hōkun Trust promotes the study and practice of the Buddha’s teachings. Our work has a strong emphasis on the practical application of the teachings in everyday life and aims to make these open to all seekers.

The term Hōkun includes two Japanese characters – for Dharma, the Buddha’s teachings, and Kun for fragrance.

What’s happening at The Hōkun Trust?

Thanks to a grant provided by the Hōkun Trust, a fledgling Kyudo group in Dublin, supported by the London Kyudo Society, now has a scroll; an important marker in the transformation of a sports hall into a Dojo (Training Place). The London Kyudo Society themselves have used the grant for two Qi Gong sessions with a qualified and highly experienced instructor; bought Yumimaki and Ishizuki – bow wraps and bow-end protections for their club bows; and organised and purchased the materials for two Japanese calligraphy workshops with a qualified and experienced Japanese calligrapher.

Bursaries & Summer School

The Hōkun Trust is a charity advancing the study and practice of the Buddha’s teachings. The bursaries may contribute to the cost of a course in Buddhist Studies, a related language or a retreat period.

The Hōkun Trust also provides funding to attend The Buddhist Society’s annual Summer School held at The Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester.

The Hōkun Trust’s Purpose
